Toxic Tomato Sauce Factory Busted Near Meerut — Sold to Vendors at ₹20/Litre

In a shocking  food safety violation, authorities sealed a food manufacturing unit in Pannapuri, Hapur near Meerut after uncovering the production of adulterated tomato sauce under highly unhygienic conditions.

🔍 What Was Found?

During the raid, the food safety department discovered that the unit was using:

Vegetable pulp instead of real tomatoes
Chemical acids
Banned synthetic colours
Rotten and low-quality raw materials
Nearly 200 litres of adulterated sauce were seized from the premises.

💸 Where Was It Being Sold?

The unsafe sauce was reportedly supplied to:

Local eateries
Street vendors
At an extremely low price of ₹20 per litre, raising serious concerns about food quality in roadside food chains.

🧪 Official Statement

Food Commissioner Sunil Kumar confirmed that:

Samples have been sent for laboratory testing
The product appeared unsafe for consumption
The entire stock has been seized and will be destroyed

He also stated that a detailed investigation is underway to identify others involved in the supply and distribution network.
