What’s happening?
During its 84th convocation on August 19, 2025, Osmania University (OU) will confer its 50th honorary doctorate—a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa)—to ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to India's space program. Dr. Narayanan will also deliver the convocation address.
Convocation Highlights:
A record 1,261 PhD degrees will be awarded—an increase from 979 in the previous session.
The ceremony will feature 121 gold medals for top-performing students from the 2022–2023 and 2023–2024 academic years.
OU will introduce new awards: one gold medal for the best PhD thesis in English by a tribal student, and another for the top MBA Finance student, instituted by A. Sridevasena.
