This feature is linked to the Food Import Clearance System (FICS) and ICE-GATE of Customs.
It will help Customs officers clear food imports with transparency and speed.
After success at these two ports, it will expand to 82 more Points of Entry. Currently, India has 162 Points of Entry for food imports.
FSSAI officers work at 78, while Customs officers handle the rest.
This pilot aims to improve food safety, ensure quality checks, and reduce manual work.
It supports selective sampling and risk-based testing for imported food.
The move will ease business for food importers while ensuring compliance with food safety laws.
