Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali foods which is one of the leading FMCG brands, presently known for edible oils, food, FMCG products, and wind power has raised concerns over product safety, health claims, and advertising ethics.
The Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) has ordered Patanjali Foods to recall red chili powder batch due to non-compliance with the food safety rules.
The food safety authority has instructed Patanjali Foods to recall the entire batch of red chili powder (Batch No. AJD2400012) because it does not meet the standards set under the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins, and Residues) Regulations, 2011.
Sanjeev Asthana, CEO of the company, stated that about four tonnes of the red chili powder (200 grams pack) has been recalled by patanjali foods.
The tested product sample was found to exceed the maximum allowed pesticide residue limits. The FSSAI has established Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for pesticide residues in various food products, including red chili powder,” Mr Asthana added.
Mr Asthana said that the company quickly informed its distributors and ran ads to alert customers who bought the product.
