Tamarack Biotics, a California-based company, has received FDA approval for its UV light technology, TruActive, which eliminates harmful pathogens in milk while preserving nutrients. How TruActive Works
TruActive's UV light technology sanitizes milk, preserving enzymes, proteins, and immunity-supporting compounds often destroyed by heat-based pasteurization. The result is a scientifically verified, safe, raw milk equivalent that's a first in the dairy industry.
Current Status and Future Plans
The FDA has approved TruActive for use in powdered dairy ingredients, such as whey protein concentrate and milk protein concentrate. Tamarack Biotics plans to expand its use to more dairy products, including cheese, yogurt, and raw milk, potentially as early as 2027.
