CFTRI developed probiotic carrot nectar, gluten free bread mix.

To mark its Platinum Jubilee Foundation Day, CSIR-CFTRI has launched a number of innovative goods and technology to meet the growing demand from consumers for simple yet healthful eating.

CSIR-CFTRI have created a multigrain waffle technique, a gluten-free bread premix, an instant masala tea premix, probiotic carrot nectar, and an ethylene scavenger technology.

Gluten-free bread premixes:

The technique of making gluten-free bread premixes involves making 100% minor millets, such as barnyard, foxtail, and proso.

The premix offers convenience for both small and large-scale bread production and contains all the necessary ingredients for making bread.

The technique encourages the use of millet and meets the increasing demand for gluten-free food.

According to a letter from the institute, the team lead, P. Prabhasankar, along with Soumya C., Tamilselvan T., Crassina Kasar, Sudha M.L., and MatcheRS, worked on the product with funding from MoFPI.

Carrot Nectar:

Experts from CFTRI claim that probiotic carrot nectar is a vegetable-based beverage made by adding Lactiplantibacillus plantarum MCC5231, a probiotic bacterium, to carrot nectar.

Those who have problems with dairy-based items, such as lactose intolerance or milk allergies, can benefit from this.

This satisfies over 50% of the daily requirement for Vitamin A and satisfies the nectar standard criteria set forth by the FSSAI.

With funding from DBT, New Delhi, Aditi Goel created the product with assistance from Attar Singh Chauhan and Prakash M. Halami.

Multigrain waffle:

Waffles are typically made using refined wheat flour that has a high fat and sugar content.

They frequently contain a lot of calories but minimal dietary fiber and essential minerals.

The multigrain waffle has been made with whole wheat, pearl millet, and finger millet flours with the right proportions of sugar and fat to enhance its nutritional value.

The batter is baked in the waffle maker to create it.

According to a CFTRI report, the multigrain waffle has better dietary fiber, minerals, and reduced calorie content than the typical waffles on the market. It also has appealing textures and flavors.

Instant Masala Tea Premix:

Instant masala tea premix, according to CFTRI, is a blend that combines the genuine flavor of traditional Indian masala tea with the ease of modern living.

A rich and tasty tea experience is provided by this ready-to-use premix. According to the statement, the tea’s single-serving sachet packaging makes preparation quick and simple.

Ethylene Scavenger:

They have even developed the economical, safe, and sustainable Ethylene Scavenger Technology.

Experts of CFTRI claim that it is biodegradable and composed of leftovers from industrial and agricultural waste.

In contrast to chemical-based alternatives, it is non-toxic and harmless. It scavenges 187 µL/gram of ethylene. Rajeshwar S. Matche, Sachin R. Chaudhari, Subhash P. Pawde, and P. Suraj are the developers of this technique.

P Aahana, a student felt, “Since people are more health and diet conscious these days, these Millet based, gluten free, low calorie products are helpful,” she said.

NP Viju felt that amid busy schedules in the fast world, these instant yet healthy products are convenient.
