Amul is ready to enter European market after recent success in US

The recently launched milk by AMUL in US has been “highly successful,” according to Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of AMUL and Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF).

The company is now prepared to join the European market, which would be a historic milestone for the brand.

Delivering the 11th Dr Verghese Kurien Memorial Oration on “AMUL Model: Transforming Lives of Million” organised by a private business management institute here on Saturday, Mehta said “India is now the largest milk producer in the world and is set to produce one-third of the world’s total milk in the coming years”, XLRI in a statement said.

Mehta claims that Amul collects more than 31 million liters of milk every day through its 107 dairy plants around India, providing more than 50 products.

He continued by saying that the brand generates a revenue of Rs 80,000 crore per year and sells 22 billion packs.

Mehta further highlighted that Amul is currently the most powerful dairy and food brand in the world, with 3.6 million farmers owning the company.

Mehta added, “If India could offer a gift to the world, it would be the cooperative working systema gift Dr Kurien gave us. His belief in cooperation has sparked a new revolution in India.”

Addressing the assembly, Dr. Verghese Kurien’s daughter Nirmala Kurien remarked that over 50 years ago, her father had the audacity to believe that a nation lacking in milk might eventually become self-sufficient.

She also mentioned that India is currently the world’s largest milk producer.

Mehta pointed out that Amul continuously builds its infrastructure and capacity while prioritizing the supply of products that are chemical-free, organic, and high in protein at the forefront of its strategy to remain relevant.
